Beechpark Recording Studios

Case Study: Apr'08

With over 20 years expertise within the recording industry and many well known names passing through their doors, Beechpark Studios had a highly respected reputation throughout the sector. An extensive investment in re-designing their studios and the addition of bespoke analog and digital equipment encouraged Beechpark Studios to redevelop their brand.Creative State received a brief from Beechpark to re-brand, develop a new website and to design and print a range of marketing material. Beechpark wanted to create a logo and brand identity that matched their high-end service and expertise. We sat down with the client and detailed exactly what they wanted to achieve, who their target audience was and what they expected from us. We agreed to generate multiple concepts from a couple of agreed reference points. The new branding was to be carried across a wide range of media - including stationery, web-site, signage, print marketing, newspaper ads, exhibition displays, and more. 

 

With a detailed brief, we began to design. With a wide range of products to be delivered, our concentration was initially focused on the logo ID.  At Creative State, we take pride in giving our customers up to date designs that will not date quickly. An initial round of concepts was considered at a second meeting with Beechpark, where we honed in on the analogue and digital aspect of what Beechpark could offer the market. With feedback, we developed a second round of concepts around the theme ANALOGUE HEART / DIGITAL HEAD. A review with Beechpark showed that one concept in particular was very close to what everyone felt would represent their business best. With a little work, this concept became the new Beechpark logo!

 

With an agreed logo ID, we showed Beechpark how the logo would work within the traditional forms of branding such as business cards and stationery. Corporate identity was refined and incorporated into a mini-brochure that included panoramic shots of the studios and also some large format banners and special finish posters for use in exhibitions and mobile recording, an important promotional feature for Beechpark. 

The Beechpark web interface was also being designed and built at this stage. The brief contained the specifics of what the web-site needed in terms of functionality, structure and content, but the design was led from the agreed logo ID.Important features of the website were to showcase the wide range of equipment and service as well as giving customers a genuine feel for the studios themselves, including its mobile recording unit. With all content and image uploaded, the web-site was ready for test. 


At Creative State, we test all work before a launch, particularly websites. This can take many forms depending on what is required. With this brief, the web-site dominated the test phase of the process. With the site ready, it was placed on a test domain enabling Beechpark and its employees to browse the site and identify any remaining snags. We ensured that the web-site looked and behaved correctly in all internet browsers, (Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox, Opera etc.). All images and links were  loaded correctly and checked, contact pages were tested to ensure they directed enquiries to the correct e-mail address. Importantly, the Beechapark web-site was optimised for all relevant search engines (Google, MSN, Yahoo, etc) making sure that keywords performed within the text of the site. 


Final proofs for all marketing material and corporate identity were approved during the development stage, so that on launching the website and re-brand, all printed brochures, stationery and large format products were back from print and delivered to fully compliment the event. The website was launched within their own domain (www.beechpark.com) and submitted to Google, MSN, Yahoo and other search engines to be indexed. This was done manually and not using an automated program, thus ensuring that www.beechpark.com was optimised correctly for the search engines. 

We greatly enjoyed working with Beechpark on this project and were very happy with the end results, as were Beechpark. With a terrific set-up in the studios, providing an extremely professional and helpful service, we understand that the new branding and website strengthened their position in the industry and improved their customers perception of their marketing and advertising.
