Dr. Josephine Mahon
Ortodontic Specialist Case Study: June '08 Dr. Josephine Mahon’s orthodontic practice has been operating in Naas, Co. Kildare for over 25 years. As an orthodontic specialist, Dr. Mahon’s business reaches her customers, or patients on a personal level, with the utmost of patient care and professionalism delivered. As a new client, Dr. Mahon’s approached us at Creative State to re-design their logo. The brief was very clear; identity must be subtle but portray trust, care and a personal service at the same time. New stationery to accompany a new logo was also requested, including letterheads, business cards and compliment slips.
We set about designing the logo keeping in mind one word – “personalâ€. Through meetings and concept reviews, the Josephine Mahon Logo was approved. The Dr. title was omitted and a signature typeface used to enhance the view that Dr. Mahon’s practice was a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere, fulfilling patients wishes for a “nicer smileâ€. Soft colours of burgundy and light grey were chosen, with a light drop shadow added to fuse the signature with the background. The success of the logo and stationery lead the client to seek a design for an A4 Gloss Folder. This would be used to provide new patients with information on the services available, in an attractive and eye catching presentation. Continuing our understanding of the patients search for a “nicer smile†, we searched for relevant imagery to feature in the folder. The clean, bright image on the cover defines exactly what Dr. Mahon’s practice is all about, not just giving the patient a “nicer smileâ€, but also a “happier smileâ€.
To add strength to the logo on thte client’s stationery, a variation of the corporate colours was developed. A block or band of the clients claret corporate colour is used with the logo signature placed in white. The grey bands compliment this with a softer feel, featuring the contact details. Both variations of the logo were used on the A4 Gloss folders, adding bold colour to the cover and simplicity to business card slot. Our A4 Gloss folder proved a huge success and are a continued feature of our orders from Dr. Mahon. Following on from the design and print of corporate ID, stationery and A4 Folders, we have designed receipt books, appointment cards and stickers for Dr. Mahon’s practice.
In order to ensure that Dr. Mahon’s team were happy with final designs, digital proofs were produced and reviewed. It is important to us that the client feel and experience the paper and card their end product will be printed on.     From the start, developing our projects with the client has been about good communication. Once concepts were agreed on, jobs were sent to print with lead times made known to Dr. Mahon. At Creative State, our large range of printing products is constantly updated and improved. Providing new and innovative ways to market and advertise a business is a focus of ours. We continue to provide new sample packs on a regular basis to all of our clients. With success of projects and campaigns such as Dr. Mahon’s practice, our clients are encouraged to try new ways of communicating with their customers, safe in the knowledge that our expertise and experience will yield great results.
